    Linear ball bearings from norelem

Linear ball bearings – also known as ball bearing bushes or shaft guides – use linear motion to guide a machine element along a cylindrical shaft with as little friction as possible. In contrast to conventional ball bearings, they therefore also have axial ball recirculation.

The norelem ball bearings comply with ISO 10285 series 3, which regulates the main dimensions and tolerances of linear ball bearings.

    Application

The linear ball bearings are used in machine and fixture construction and in industry whenever only limited installation space is available.

Linear bearings are important components for machine and fixture construction and are used in automatic production machines, machine tools, rail vehicles as well as in foodstuff and medical technology.

The norelem linear ball bearings are used, for example, in printing machines, flame-cutting machines, all types of presses and also in computers and measuring equipment. Linear bearings are also used for the construction of sliding devices such as linear tables.

The norelem linear plain bearing is also used in food, pharmaceutical, medical and chemical applications.

Linear ball bearings vs. linear plain bearings

In the norelem shop, you can choose between linear plain bearings and the various versions of linear ball bearings. Linear plain bearings differ from linear ball bearings in the technology used during the gliding process and the type of bearing.

    Linear plain bearings

The linear plain bearings are a plain bearing bush with a Frelon coating. The housing is made of anodised aluminium, the sliding surface inside is made of Frelon (teflon with fill material). The linear plain bearings therefore have no ball bearings, unlike the norelem linear ball bearings. One major advantage of linear plain bearings is that they are self-lubricating and slide without the addition of lubricants. The linear plain bearings have a high temperature range of -240°C to +260°C, are vibration-damping and have a high static load rating. The load rating indicates how much weight (specified in Newtons) can be applied to the linear ball bearing. There is often a static load rating (load at rest) and a dynamic load rating (load in motion).

    Linear ball bearings

The linear ball bearings from norelem run quietly and have excellent running properties thanks to the steel balls inside. The norelem shop offers linear ball bearings with different housings (plastic, steel or stainless steel) as well as different versions with and without angle compensation, plastic carrier or plastic cage and in miniatureor compact version.

The various versions and materials of linear ball bearings

The ball bearing bushes from norelem consist of a steel or plastic housing with raceway segments made of hardened steel. They guide the ball sets within the system and ensure unlimited travel at low guidance.

    Open version

Open linear ball bearings are used when the shafts are supported with shaft supports, e.g. due to a high load. In order for the bearing to run over the shaft, the bearings must be open at the bottom.

    Closed version

Closed linear ball bearings are used when the shaft is self-supporting.
